Leogang World Cup
News — By Chris Roberts on June 16, 2010 at 7:27 pmMen
Prokop quickest in qualifying using a line through the rock garden no else tried but has paid off for Michal.
Graves, Atherton both used the Pro Line but it seems its not the quickest line.
David GRAF took easy top line but went in tight inside the flag missing the rocks and was quick enough for 3rd fastest time.
Brits all qulaified for the main race.
Will Evans nearly knocked himself out in pratice when he the run into the bridge all wrong but was ok to 2nd fastest Brit, PCJ had a good run into 22nd Tom Dowie had his best qulaifying ever in 27th with Scott Roberts in 44th his worst result in qualiffying this year so lots to do tomorrow in the race.
Just two to watch out for is Roger Rinderknect in 56th place & Mitch Ropelato in 64th place both are really fast on the track and if Mitch had not fallen off in the last corner in could had well been fastest overall.

Friday Update
Rain storm just hit the Leogang at lunch time so the 4x tack is going be very soft in places, mostly in the places where everyone want to ride.
The long stright after the bridge is rock solid so no problems there but the Pro (joker) line is going to be soft along with the higher line that nearly everyone will be riding.

After this flag the landing is very very soft and will rut up with very deep ruts. Move the flag over to the left by about 1m and will race much better
1st Practice Thursday.
Strange practice session for a World cup normally its all go go go on the track, riders trying all sorts of different lines and all the big jumps etc.
Today was different, just loads of riders over 100 of them just sat watching each other, a lot of the time the track had no riders on it!
The bridge gap jump was were all eyes were on to see who can do it, Athy hit its first straight through then a guy a huge guy with strange socks follows and then its a bit hit and miss with loads of people skidding into the take off, it all goes a bit soft (its going to need some work on it to get running right for tomorrow)
In the photos you can see PCJ jump onto the bridge then fall off and just about make out his bike on the floor under the bridge in one of the photos, good a good cheer from the crowd for his efforts.
The long straight after the bridge is going to be were a lot of the over taking is going to take place if and i say if you can get enough speed to catch the rider in front.
Pro or Joker line is tuff, people hooking up and just coming to a stop, get it wrong and your going out!
There is Talk of an extra flag on the easy line would even things up but no so sure it will improve racing…..
Brit rider numbers are well down, only Dan Atherton, Will Evans, PCJ, Tom Dowie, Scott Roberts & just one girl Katy Curd riding practice.
Qualifying Friday night lets see what happens, im sure there are still some surprises to come.
- Pic a line any line, confusion over where you can go through the flags
- Soft! this track needs wood boards
- After this flag the landing is very very soft and will rut up with very deep ruts. Move the flag over to the left by about 1m and will race much better
The track has been built by Guido Tschugg which should make for interesting ideas (dirt webby with track info)
The Brits are smaller in numbers for this race.
Scott Beaumont is out with following damage to his ankle caused at Maribor then again the Euro 4X Champs.
Full rider list is on uci webby, but expect all the regular Brits to be racing, Dan Atherton, Will Longdon, Scott Roberts, Will Evans, PCJ, Kerion McAvoy, Tom Dowie & Lewis Lacey on his return to World Cup 4X has the bit between his teeth after his flat tyre at Fort Bill.

Track looks sweet, not sure about the “Joker” line, looks like it was built by a Joker! Anyway, good luck Scott and keep the updates coming Chris
