Welsh 4X Championship 2010

Sunday 8th August 2010

This is the opening race on this brand new track at Afan Bike park in South Wales.

The track was designed by Phil Saxena and built by Robbie Griffiths

The track is just over 500metres long and includes a cork screw bridge corner same as used in the World Cup course at Belgium and Canada along with the longest 4x rock garden ever built in the world.

The track is also to be used for a round of the 2011 European & National 4X series.

The race is open to all riders you don’t have to be Welsh to race

so come and try out what is one of the best 4x tracks in the country and now the new British Cycling ranking points system you can gain extra ranking points from this championship race.

1.1.    Eligibility

1.1.3.        To be eligible to compete in a ‘closed’ Welsh Championship riders must meet one or more of the following criteria:

1.1.3.1.  Have been born in Wales or one or both parents have been born in Wales

1.1.3.2.  Have been resident in Wales for no less than 12 months consecutively prior to the date of the Championship.

1.1.4.        An event promoter will not be required to check the eligibility of each entrant but where queries arise, the promoter or commissaire may request proof of eligibility from an entrant such as birth certificate or proof of address. The onus is on the entrant to provide this proof.

1.1.5.        Riders will only be eligible for the Championship they sign on for. For example, if the Senior and Junior races are combined any junior participating must clearly state which category they are competing in and will be awarded a single medal or jersey accordingly.

The Afan Forest Dirt Park directions

Once you rejoin the A4107 turn left, after about 1.5 miles take the first left towards Neath through the village of Pontredyfen.
Please drive carefully through the village. You will see a pub on the left almost as you leave the village called the Colliers (good beer & food)
Just past the Colliers turn right for Tonmawr and Bryn Bettws Lodge. After half a mile turn right right that will take you along an unsurfaced Forestry Commission road for about a mile to Bryn Bettws Lodge.
